The National Reading Days 2026

During National Reading Days, young children discover the most beautiful picture books and their language and imagination grow.
During De Nationale Voorleesdagen, it is all about reading aloud to children aged 0 to 6, who cannot yet read themselves or have just learned to read.
Indeed, reading aloud has many advantages, such as a positive effect on vocabulary and text comprehension, and children develop a better sense of empathy in addition to their language skills.
Central is the Picture Book Top 10, the most enjoyable read-aloud books chosen by an expert committee. One title will be voted Picture Book of the Year 2026.
The picture book Little Monkey by Mies van Hout is Picture Book of the Year 2026.
