A gripping documentary in which filmmaker Koert Davidse tells the story of his brother Bart, who died in 1986 at the age of 28 from a disease that was not talked about in their conservative Zeeland family, namely AIDS.
Important themes
Despite the deeply personal story, this film also deals with larger themes. Davidse shows the impact of HIV on those infected, friends, family members and medical science, and emphasises the importance of openness and acceptance at a time when the acquired freedoms of the lhbtqia+ community can no longer be taken for granted.
