Pieke Parcours: Children's afternoons with Ruben Komkommer
5 September, 6 September and 27 September
A festive opening and closing of the Pieke Parcours for children and their families, featuring Ruben Komkommer’s puppet show at the Dinghuis.
Especially for the Pieke Parcours, Ruben Komkommer will host three festive afternoons in the Dinghuis. Children and their families are welcome to attend a cheerful, interactive theatre performance full of play and imagination, performed by the well-known Maastricht puppeteer.
With his playful and accessible style, Ruben knows how to actively involve young audiences and create room for wonder and fantasy - values that were also so characteristic of Pieke Dassen's work. During these afternoons, he plays his performance SSST, a loving tribute and playful nod to Pieke. When it used to get too noisy, Pieke would lower his puppets until it was quiet again: attention to play was central. SSST harks back to this in a contemporary way.
The performance also forms a special entity with the exhibition on Pieke Dassen, which can be seen simultaneously in the same area of the Dinghuis. Here, the set-up of Pieke's famous Poesjenellenkelder is brought to life again, this time with Ruben in the leading role. Visitors thus literally step into Pieke's world, where past and present playfully converge.
The performance is interactive: children who like it get to play a part themselves. Extra special is that Ruben is celebrating his 50th anniversary as a puppeteer this year, which gives this series of performances a festive character.
