Piano romance and fairytale worlds
UNTIL 12 December 2025
Philzuid and Cédric Tiberghien play two sparkling, unknown Schumann piano concertos, while Duncan Ward celebrates Dvořak's symphonic splendour.
Intimate Piano Concertos
Philzuid and French master pianist Cédric Tiberghien perform two rarely played, intimate piano concertos by Robert Schumann. In these sophisticated works, Schumann seeks a subtle balance between piano and orchestra. The mini concertos, one written as a birthday present for Clara Schumann, show the composer at his most lyrical and sensitive.
Folk legends
In addition, Philzuid, conducted by Duncan Ward, delves into Antonín Dvořák's symphonic folk legends, based on the grim tales of Karel Erben. Musical tales like The Golden Spinning Wheel and The Wood Pigeon take the audience through dark fairy tales, cinematic suspense and dramatic orchestral colours.
