Pierre Kemp (1886-1967) is considered one of the most idiosyncratic poets in the Netherlands. His work is light, expressive, musical and deeply rooted in the southern culture of Maastricht and the Maasland region.

The performance
Improvisation in Colour is a unique multidisciplinary project in which improvisational theatre, poetry and live music come together to create a sparkling and interactive performance. For this unique occasion, poems by Pierre Kemp will serve as inspiration for the improvised scenes. In the process, the content and atmosphere of the poetry will come to life in surprising ways.

Improvisation
In Improvisation in Colour, the actors work from Kemp's words, colours and images, without a fixed script. Each poem or fragment becomes a source of associations: a colour can become a character, a sound a movement, a sentence a musical impulse. We ask the audience to extract elements from the recited poems with which the players create a scene.

This performance is an ode to Maastricht: to its literary heritage, its creative spirit and its rich cultural identity. The project makes poetry accessible, experimental and above all tangible for young and old, from theatre lovers to students and lovers of language and literature.
