Hairspray

Hairspray was a huge success on Broadway and won no less than eight Tony Awards, including for Best Musical. The film of the same name, starring John Travolta as Mother Edna, was also a big box-office hit. Hairspray was last seen in the Netherlands in 2009. The story
It is the 1960s in America and everything has to change. New music with flashy dances, fashionably hip clothes and striking hairstyles. On the social front, the world is being shaken up considerably. And that is where Tracy Turnblad and her mother Edna contribute. When Tracy gets the chance to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show, she seizes the moment to show that there is room for everyone in the world. Will she succeed in breaking prevailing world views? Or do her ideals cause trouble?
