On 13 September, something unique is set to take place: Dutch saxophonist Kika Sprangers will join forces with nine remarkable female vocalists in a new collaboration called HERA.
Ten distinctive musicians come together in HERA, an ensemble led by saxophonist and composer Kika Sprangers and comprising nine female singers. Their voices and the saxophone blend to create a powerful and versatile sound, in which the very differences between the musicians take centre stage.
HERA takes you on a musical journey full of atmosphere, ensemble playing and surprising sounds. The name refers to the Greek goddess of air and atmosphere – and you can really feel it: the music moves, breathes and sweeps you along.
As a composer and bandleader, Kika Sprangers is known for her surprising collaborations and unusual line-ups. In 2025, she won the Edison Jazz National Award and was awarded a prestigious composition commission by the North Sea Jazz Festival.
