Archaeo Hotspots Maastricht

Step into the fascinating world of archaeology at the ArcheoHotspot Maastricht, located on the first floor of Centre Céramique. Here you can actively participate in archaeological projects, such as determining shards from an old well or other exciting investigations. It is an informal and fun way to explore real archaeological finds and bring history to life.

For children
Children can playfully learn about archaeology by gluing old pots back together, doing puzzles and helping with sieving. Take a bucket of soil from Mount Canner and empty it over a sieve to discover what's inside. Last time, even remains of a Roman campfire were discovered!

For adults
Adults can actively participate in unravelling Maastricht's archaeology collection. At changing locations, each bag is opened and the contents are examined together, after which they are added to the database. This is a joint effort to unlock Maastricht's rich history.
