Family walk in the ENCI quarry: The animals of the past and present
Until 22 July
Interactive family walk in the ENCI quarry: discover fossils, learn about animals of the past and present, and enjoy nature.
Step into a landscape full of stories
Long ago, giant marine reptiles swam here. Now butterflies flutter and the eagle owl hoots in the valley. On this family walk, you’ll join a guide on a journey through time and nature. Together, you’ll learn which animals once lived here and which still call this place home today. All in a unique corner of the Netherlands, right in the heart of the ENCI quarry near Maastricht.
Look, ask, feel and marvel
This excursion is specially designed for children aged 6 and over. No boring explanations, just stories to dive into yourself: How big was a mosasaur? Why do bats hang upside down? And how do you recognise flint? The guide stimulates the children’s curiosity with activities, questions and hands-on finds such as fossils, bats in boxes and prehistoric folding rulers.
