In the new play Sonja, based on Sonja Barend's bestseller Je ziet mij nooit terug, Angela Schijf plays the role of Sonja Barend.
Sonja offers a personal perspective on the queen of the Dutch talk show. Live on television, in a packed Rode Hoed, Sonja begins her interviews with curiosity and commitment. At the talk show table, she dares to ask anything, but at home at the kitchen table, she struggles with the essential questions to her elderly mother about her Jewish father's fate during the war.
Angela Schijf and Stefan de walle, both very well known to audiences, are on stage together for the first time in Sonja. Director Servé Hermans returns to major theatres with that play after his success with the feature musicals Dagboek van een Herdershond and Het was Zondag in het Zuiden. Sonja is an ode to conversation and a plea for asking questions.
