Philzuid - St Matthew Passion

The whole of the Netherlands honours the St Matthew Passion. And rightly so. It is a concert experience unlike any other. For over three hours, visitors immerse themselves in Johann Sebastian Bach's salutary wealth of sound. The monumental oratorio is an intoxicating accumulation of wonderful arias, glorious choral parts and sparkling Baroque music. Bach framed the Passion of Jesus Christ with passion music that continues to sound sensationally timeless. Every spring, Bach's masterpiece sounds like new again. Philzuid now joins forces with Italian baroque specialist and conductor Enrico Onofri. As solo violinist of the renowned baroque ensemble Il Giardino Armonico, Onofri has already caused a furore with his Vivaldi interpretations. More and more, Onofri is raising his profile as a conductor. His take on one of the greatest baroque classics is eagerly awaited.
