Walking and butterfly spotting on the Mount Saint Peter
Join us on an enchanting walk and discover the most beautiful spots on the Mount Saint Peter, where butterflies abound. Accompanied by our forest rangers, you’ll explore this butterfly paradise with its unique flora and fauna. The combination of warmth, the southerly location and the chalky soil creates a riot of flowers, attracting countless rare butterflies. Think of species such as the brown fritillary or the tailed blue.
Creating a safe haven
Together with our Flemish partner organisation Natuurpunt, Natuurmonumenten is working to further expand the habitat of butterflies from Flanders and Wallonia into the Netherlands. Through careful mowing, sheep grazing and the conservation of nectar-producing plants, we are creating a safe haven for these beautiful insects.
Be amazed by the colourful world of butterflies and nature of Mount Saint Peter (St. Pietersberg hill)!
